NBA/Team USA Coach Ty Ellis To Serve As Lead Youth Development Coach/Mentor At The Texas Hoop Summit

The Texas Hoop Summit Selection Committee is pleased to announce the addition of former 

11-year pro player now NBA Assistant Coach/

G-League Head Coach/Team USA Basketball Assistant Coach Ty Ellis joins the Texas Hoop Summit as Lead Clinician and Mentor. Ellis spent four seasons in the league as an assistant coach for Tulsa, Oklahoma, Reno, Nevada, and Grand Rapids, Michigan, before taking a job with the Bakersfield Jam in 2015. In 2016, the Phoenix Suns D-League affiliate the (Jam), named Ellis the club’s new coach for the inaugural season. He has recently served as an assistant coach for Team USA Basketball under Jeff Van Gundy, helping to lead USA to a Gold medal & undefeated at the 2017 FIBA AmeriCup  After graduating from David W. Carter High School in Dallas,Texas, Ellis went on to earn his bachelor’s degree in sports management and a master’s degree in kinesiology at Southern Nazarene University in 2001. Ellis played four years for the NAIA Crimson Storm, finishing fourth all-time on the school’s scoring list with 1,822 points. He was second all-time in 3-pointers made with 248 in 129 total games. Since his graduation from Southern Nazarene University, Ellis has played professional basketball in the United States (Huntsville Flight), Germany (Frankfurt Skyliners), Turkey (Beşiktaş Cola Turka), Italy (Basket Napoli) and Spain (Casademont Girona, Cajasol Sevilla, Asefa Estudiantes). He also had Summer League stints with the Los Angeles Lakers and the Dallas Mavericks.  When asked about the impact of the addition of Ellis, Founder/Director Jabari Johnson said "Adding a guy like Ty is a gamechanger for our participating student-athletes. He brings a wealth of knowledge, skill, experience, and passion that will be invaluable to student-athletes at the grassroots level." 

The Texas Hoop Summit  is set to tipoff August 10-11 at Duncanville Fieldhouse in Duncanville, Texas
