The Heads Up! Foundation – a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in April 2003 with a mission to uplift underserved youth through sports, education, and mentoring while providing pathways to college and career – is hosting its Inaugural Scholarship Fundraising Gala on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at The Hilton Garden Hotel Ballroom, 800 N. Main Street in Duncanville, Texas. Festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a cocktail hour and continue with dinner, awards, and live entertainment from 7 to 9 p.m. Special Keynote speaker and Honored Guests to be announced. Event will also feature a silent auction; black tie attire is optional. The organization plans to raise over $50,000 for program scholarships and tuition assistance.

The average annual cost of tuition for a four-year college degree is $24,930; the average annual cost at a two-year institution is $9,308, according to the U.S. Department of Education. “The Heads Up! Foundation is committed to helping youth from low-to-mid income households fulfill their educational and career goals,” says founder Jabari Johnson, who also serves as executive director of the organization. He adds, “Heads Up! seeks to alleviate the hardships and to provide avenues of opportunity for the next generation of global leaders”.

Since its inception, The Heads Up! Foundation has reached thousands of local youth through various summer sports camps, mentoring programs, outreach initiatives and other community engagements. Heads Up! was created to provide opportunities for youth in underserved areas to participate in higher level sports and educational enrichment programs absent financial constraints. Targeted participants typically do not have the financial means to take part in these programs, thus limiting their opportunities versus those with a more favorable economic situation. Heads Up! is one of few agencies in North Texas with a mission to provide holistic development and mentorship to youth and families in need. To date, Heads Up! has assisted in over $25 million in college scholarship opportunities for hundreds of those students hoping to further their education.

Individual tickets for the Gala are $100.00. Sponsored tables of ten (10) seats are $750.00, which includes Sponsor signage displayed on table. There are also numerous Gala Sponsorship Opportunities available at various levels.
